FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Kat Von D “Shade & Light” contour palette

this was written months ago – but I thought you may still enjoy it (:

These are my first impressions on the Kat von D Shade & Light palette!

The Shade & Light palette comes in a black cardboard box, with typical Kat Von D-lettering. It has the colournames on the back & comes with a step-by-step guide to contour your face. The palette is also made out of cardboard, but it’s thicker and has more weight to it than the LORAC PRO palette. It contains six shades (three for highlighting, three for contouring) and includes a big mirror.
There’s a good variety of colours, that will work for a lot of skintones. I use the contourcolours as a regular setting powder when working on clients with deeper skintones.
  • Lucid: fair/light porcelain pink undertone.
  • Lyric: soft banana colour.
  • Levitation: peach, could be used as a blush on fair skintones.
  • Sombre: medium brown with cool undertone, the typical contour colour.
  • Shadowplay:  warm medium brown bronzing colour.
  • Subconsious: deep neutrale brown.
This is the effect of the contour palette. Before I only used foundation, with no powder. After: Lucid + Lyric used to set my undereye, Levitation softly applied as a blush, Shadowplay used as a bronzer on cheeks and forehead and Sombre to slightly enhance the contour on my cheek.

What do you think of this palette? Have you tried it?
